L. Paul Zankich, Marine Engineer and principal owner of the Columbia -Sentinel Engineers, Inc., was in Fairbanks to inspect the SS Nenana with Design Alaska Inc. along with Engineer Matthew Reckard.
This is an essential first step in getting an accurate report of the condition of the SS Nenana. L. Paul Zankich has many years of experience working on wooden boats, which is becoming a thing of the past in today’s world. Paul did an inspection of the boat for the Friends of SS Nenana in 2019; this allows him to compare the changes in the ship from environmental conditions over the last two years, which is vital for the boat’s future and how to maintain her.
