River Boat Nenana. A unique phase of the Alaska Railroad operations is the operation of the sternwheeler riverboat Nenana on the Tanana and Yukon Rivers. Military Freight from the railroad is delivered to the otherwise inaccessible river villages or Army Bases

700 tons moved down the Tanana River on the last trip of the season in 1935. 300 tons of freight were on a steamer, and 400 tons were on a barge.
